Celtic have opened talks with midfield star Callum McGregor over a new deal at Parkhead, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
McGregor was a revelation for Celtic in their invincibles campaign where they went through the whole season unbeaten and claimed a domestic treble.
The 24-year-old made 46 appearances in all competitions for Celtic last season and firmly established himself as a key component of Brendan Rodgers’ side.

McGregor, who was surprisingly left out of the Scotland squad for last weekend’s World Cup qualifier with England, netted seven goals and laid on 11 assists for Celtic last season.
McGregor’s performances have not gone unnoticed elsewhere with several English clubs keeping tabs on the midfielder.
The midfield dynamo has come through the ranks at Celtic and has gone on to make over 100 appearances for the club since making his debut in 2014.
McGregor still has two years to run on his current deal at Celtic, but the club’s board are keen to reward him for his progress and importance in the team with a new long-term deal.
