Chris Sutton has branded Neil Lennon’s Celtic ‘a hard watch’ after they just managed to squeeze past St Johnstone on Sunday.

Sutton – who spent six years at Celtic Park between 2000 and 2006 – took to Twitter after Leigh Griffiths 90th-minute header to make the claim.

He wrote: Leigh Griffiths superb header but Celtic are a hard watch at present…’

Admittedly, it was a bit of a frustrating afternoon for the Hoops on Sunday.

Lennon’s men looked like they had a comfortable win judging by the 2-0 score-line, but in truth, it wasn’t attractive viewing by any means.

According to WhoScored, Celtic had 19 shots in total, but only three hit the target – two of those were obviously responsible for the stoppage-time goals, meaning they had just one shot on target in normal time.

The Bhoys were also dispossessed 16 times in total, and committed 14 fouls on a scrappy afternoon.

Results wise, things seem fine for Lennon. Celtic have lost just one game from 13 in all competitions so far this season, winning 11 of them.

They currently sit second in the Scottish Premiership, one point behind Rangers.

Having said that, Lennon’s men have a game in hand over their bitter rivals as they look to secure ten titles in a row this term.

Celtic may still be on course for an impressive campaign.

However, the statistics from Sunday’s win over St Johnstone reinforce Sutton’s claim that his former side are not too easy on the eye right now.
