According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic are now closing in on a deal to sign Bologna defender Aaron Hickey in a deal worth around £3.5million.
If there’s anything Celtic need, it’s defensive additions.
The Bhoys have concerns throughout their back line, and both full back positions need some serious work.
Jonjoe Kenny and Diego Laxalt have seen their loans end, so right backs and left backs are both needed. It’s therefore no great surprise that Hickey is wanted, given that he can play in both positions.
Celtic’s move for Hickey
It’s now stated that Celtic have made a £3.5million offer to Bologna for Hickey – a bid thought to have Celtic close to signing the youngster.
Direct talks with Hickey could take place this week, with new boss Ange Postecoglou stepping up the move for Hickey.
Celtic did want to sign Hickey from Hearts last summer, but lost out to Bologna.

A year on, Hickey is now closing in on a return to Scotland and, more specifically, a return to Celtic. Hickey spent four years in the Celtic ranks before heading back to Hearts in 2018.
Hailed as ‘extraordinary’ by his former Hearts boss Daniel Stendel, Hickey has huge potential and could really help solve some of Celtic’s full back problems.
The 19-year-old managed 11 Serie A appearances for Bologna last season but now appears to be heading back to Scotland already.
