Brown and van Dijk crossed paths at Celtic during the earlier stages of the defender’s career.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has sent Celtic captain Scott Brown a signed Liverpool shirt, which the Hoops hero posted on Instagram to thank his former teammate.
Van Dijk, 26, turned out for Celtic for two season after being signed for around £2.5million from Dutch Eredivisie side FC Groningen in the summer of 2013 where he played alongside Brown.

He left on good terms as the defensive powerhouse moved south to join Southampton, a move in which Victor Wanyama did just two years before. Since then, van Dijk has become the most expensive defender in history by joining Liverpool.
The £75million man mountain has seemingly ended Liverpool’s woes at the back, helping Liverpool keep seven clean sheets in 11. But he has not forgotten his Celtic spell, sending Brown a shirt which the ex-Hibs star put on Instagram.
The 18-time Netherlands captain featured 115 times in all competitions for Celtic during his two-year stay, which is the most appearances he has made with any of his four clubs.
In that time, he scored an impressive 15 goals and turned provider with another seven assists, helping Celtic win two Scottish Premiership titles and one Scottish League Cup.
Closing in on a seventh consecutive Scottish Premiership title, van Dijk will surely be keeping an eye on Celtic’s excellent run north of the border as he featured in two of their six league triumphs.
