Lubo Moravcik believes that questions surrounding Moussa Dembele’s future prove that Celtic are unlucky.

Lubo Moravcik has suggested that the questions surrounding Moussa Dembele’s future highlight why Celtic are so unlucky, the Evening Times reports.

Dembele has been one of the finds of the season across Europe. While his potential was clear during his time in the first-team at Fulham, few would have expected the Frenchman to score 32 times during his first year with the Hoops, including strikes in the Champions League.

Unsurprisingly therefore, there has been plenty of interest in the 20-year-old with Manchester United and Chelsea amongst the clubs keen on bringing him back to England (via The Sun).

And Moravcik has insisted that if it simply came down to the stature of the club, Celtic – and Rangers – would not have to worry about the prospect of losing their best players.

“I hope he will stay another couple of seasons and score a lot of goals for Celtic. After that? Who knows? He will maybe get an offer from another big club in a bigger league,” he said, as reported by the Evening Times.

“The Scottish league is a good league, but Celtic and Rangers are unlucky to play there. They are both very big clubs who could play in a better league.

“I have watched highlights of his goals on You Tube because he’s scored 32 goals. He has scored great goals, better than mine!”

General view of Celtic Park

A number of Celtic’s key players from down the years – who have shown that they are capable of shining at the very highest level having featured in the Champions League – have joined clubs much less prestigious than the Hoops seemingly due to the lure of playing in the Premier League.

And given the stature and history of the Parkhead club, it is surely fair to say, as Moravcik suggests, that if Celtic were a Premier League club, they would probably have no problem holding onto Dembele as well as the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Victor Wanyama who have moved on in recent years.
