It hasn’t been that long since Odsonne Edouard swapped Celtic colours for Crystal Palace colours, but what a debut it was for the striker on Saturday.

Edouard netted a brace, from the bench, including scoring with his second touch as Palace recorded a 3-0 win against Tottenham at Selhurst Park.

Watching on from afar, Moussa Dembele posted on his Instagram story ‘really quick’, as he expressed his delight at Edouard’s quite stunning debut.

Both players thrived during their days in the Scottish Premiership, and regardless of what is said from the outside, it just goes to show the quality of individual players the likes of Celtic can snap up.

Dembele, since swapping Celtic for Lyon in 2018, is enjoying himself in Ligue 1, including scoring three goals in four games this season.

And whilst Edouard has started his career in the Premier League in a near-perfect fashion, he will be hoping to go down the same road.

Those watching on from Celtic, in the stands, the boardroom and from the training pitch, won’t be surprised by what they are seeing from their former player.

The 23-year-old has showcased for a number of years that he is worthy of playing in a league that provides him with a tougher challenge.

And whilst it was a dream debut for Edouard, it’s going to be interesting to see how he now fares up against some of the best in Europe.

Expectations are different at Palace than at Celtic, with the latter expected to win the title and every game they play in, that’s not the case at Selhurst Park, although the opposition is a lot tougher.
