Celtic hero Davie Hay believes that the Hoops have a key advantage going into tomorrow’s Scottish League Cup semi-final against Rangers as he is not sure that Mark Warburton knows what his best team is, the Evening Times reports.

The two Old Firm rivals meet at Hampden Park on Sunday for a chance to face either Aberdeen or Morton for the first trophy of the season.

And while Rangers came out on top the last time the two teams met at the National Stadium, there is no question that Celtic have the momentum going into this contest.

The Hoops won the first meeting of the season in emphatic fashion and hold a comfortable lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

And while they lost a crucial game in the Champions League in midweek, Hay believes Celtic will come out on top due to Warburton’s possible indecision regarding his selection.

“Do Rangers know what their best starting eleven is? Probably not,” he said, as reported by the Evening Times.

“With Celtic, there may be one or two changes of personnel, but it won’t change the shape of the team.

“Celtic have more options, both on the pitch and coming off the bench to change the game if required.”

The key men have arguably begun to really emerge in recent weeks

There is no doubt that the former Brentford boss has had a tougher time this season. However, their recent performances have been much more assured and therefore suggest that they have turned a corner.

Many of the key men have begun to reemerge in recent weeks – the likes of Andy Halliday, Jason Holt and Kenny Miller – so even if Hay’s doubts prove accurate and Warburton is still not sure of his best team, he will have a good idea of what the spine of the side will need to look like if Rangers are to exact revenge for the previous meeting.
