Celtic should forget about signing Filip Benkovic permanently.

Filip Benkovic has been a godsend for Celtic’s defence since joining on loan from Leicester City.
Fans are desperate for the centre-back to sign permanently, but this is an idea which needs to be forgotten, it’s just a pipedream.
Benkovic, 21, was signed by Leicester as a star of the future, and loaned out to gain experience.
That is what he is getting at Celtic, and he is outperforming expectations already.
Celtic must maximise Benkovic while they can, but they need to have an eye on the future too.

It would be a mistake to assume they can try to sign Benkovic in the summer, who Leicester paid £13 million for from Dinamo Zagreb.
Why would Leicester let him leave? There is no credible reason unless it was for a huge profit, and Celtic are unlikely to be able to sanction a move above the cost the Foxes paid for him.
Celtic need to bring defenders in during the transfer window, especially with Dedyrck Boyata’s future uncertain.
If they can find a replacement for Benkovic early, it will make losing him next summer a lot easier.
The club have a decision to make, whether to simply carry on as they are and hope for the best next summer, or look for his successor next month.
