Celtic are linked with the defender pulling up trees at Derby County, but is he destined for bigger things?

The Mirror [19/05, page 66] claimed on Sunday that Celtic want to sign Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori this summer.
The 21-year-old has impressed on loan at Derby County this past season, but Celtic apparently want him on a permanent basis.
But if previous comments from Frank Lampard are anything to go by, the Hoops have no chance.
The young centre-back has been a revelation at Pride Park since being signed by Lampard last summer.
It was only last month that the Chelsea legend claimed to Derby’s official website that Tomori can reach the ‘very top’ in football and said it was ‘scary’ to consider how good he can be.
Going by those comments, Tomori is a huge prospect in West London and it’s just very unlikely that Celtic will be able to sign him on loan, let alone for the long term.
Lampard, who has led the Rams into the playoff final during his first season in senior management, knows a thing or two about the game and if he believes Tomori could be a massive hit, who’s to say otherwise?
Up in Scotland, Celtic have the unenviable task of replacing Dedryck Boyata and Filip Benkovic. You can’t fault their ambition by going after the young Blues centre-back, but this one might be a pipe dream.
