Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers released ex-Celtic trainee Liam Burt last month.

If rumours are believed, Celtic could be interested in signing a player who Rangers dumped only last month.

Liam Burt was released by the Gers in May after failing to earn a new contract at Auchenhowie.

Celtic originally lost the 20-year-old to Rangers way back in 2014, but it looks like the Hoops may want him back.

The young midfielder posted a photo on his Instagram of himself driving to the Hoops’ Lennoxtown training base on Friday, accompanied by the caption ‘God’s plan’.

It appears as if they do indeed want him back, and it’s been a long time coming.

Eighteen months after swapping the green side of Glasgow for Ibrox, Burt was linked with a return to Celtic in December 2015 [The Scottish Sun].

The report claims that they wanted to re-sign the gem who was lost to the light Blues the previous year.

Burt going back to Lennoxtown would be one of the most surprising developments of the transfer window in Scottish football this summer, but it certainly seems as if it has legs.

The Scotland Under-21 international spent three years on Rangers’ books, and enjoyed loans with Dumbarton and Alloa Athletic.
