According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Union are selling defender Mark McKenzie to Genk despite major interest from Celtic.
It’s claimed that the deal has been agreed, with Genk paying $6million (£4.4million) to sign the youngster, though that price could go even higher.
Celtic are described as being ‘the loudest’ suitor for McKenzie, but the Bhoys are missing out with McKenzie now heading off to Belgium.
Sky Sports reported earlier this month that McKenzie was high up on Celtic’s list of targets for the January transfer window, with a centre back a priority for them.
McKenzie then told Sky Sports a couple of weeks ago that he had been researching Celtic ahead of a possible move, and wanted to become the new Virgil van Dijk.
If Celtic were biding their time, then they have ultimately waited too long as Genk have swooped in to hijack their interest and agree a deal with Philadelphia Union.

McKenzie, 21, has impressed in Major League Soccer and already has two United States caps to his name, with real hope that he can become a top centre back for his country.
Celtic have now missed out, and having already made a £4.4million move, he may end up being out of their price range in the future in what could be a major transfer miss for the Bhoys.
