Well, Shane Duffy is officially a Celtic player and he’ll be looking forward to facing Rangers this season.
The Republic of Ireland international, who joined the Hoops on a season-long loan from Brighton, is a lifelong fan of the Parkhead club.
And the prospect of turning out for Celtic in an Old Firm versus Rangers must seriously excite the big centre-back.
But Duffy might be a tad disappointed that he won’t be squaring off against Andy Halliday.
The Gers released Halliday a little earlier this summer but despite failing to earn a new deal at Ibrox, the midfielder is as passionate about Rangers as Duffy is about the Bhoys.
In fact, according to the player himself, Duffy genuinely hates the former Bears star.
Speaking to Open Goal on August 25, Halliday revealed that Rangers defender Connor Goldson – who played with Duffy at the Premier League club – revealed to him that the Derry native sincerely does not like him.
Halliday said: “I’m not even joking here by the way. I’ve been told that the boy Shane Duffy hates me. I’m no even joking, that’s no even a joke, I’ve heard he hates me. He’s mad Celtic and Connor Goldon’s like ‘aw Shane Duffy hates you man’.”
You can see why Duffy might not like Halliday; not because the latter is particularly unlikable, but he is Rangers mad and Duffy, being a Celtic fan, just isn’t going to like him any more than those on the blue side of the Old Firm divide like Scott Brown, for example.
Neil Lennon’s side welcome the Gers to Paradise on October 17.
