They currently sit in third place, eight points behind leaders Celtic, who have played three games fewer.
For Rangers to overtake Celtic’s point tally after 12 games, Rangers would have to play 18 themselves.

It is not the start Rangers would have hoped for upon their return to the top flight, and Celtic already look like certainties to win the title.
There is only one way this could be worse from a Gers perspective, and that is if Celtic go on to record a historic unbeaten season.
After 12 games Celtic have won 11, drawn one, and are yet to lose.
They have barely been threatened, and they made light work of Rangers in September when they crushed them 5-1.

Celtic have won previous league titles with very little opposition, but this was supposed to be the season it all changed.
There is a long way to go, but if Brendan Rodgers’ side can pull off a historic achievement, it will give them the ultimate bragging rights over their rivals.
Further questions would be asked over the future of Mark Warburton and just why Rangers have been unable to put up a challenge, while the likes of Hearts and Aberdeen should also be questioning themselves.
Celtic travel to Motherwell this weekend as they kick off a busy month with eight league matches scheduled, plus a Champions League dead rubber against Manchester City, where they are playing for pride – and to avoid humiliation.
It will be a big achievement simply to get through December unbeaten in the league, and if they get close, all eyes will be on the December 31 clash at Ibrox to see if Rangers can topple them.
By that point Celtic could well and truly be out of sight.
