Celtic have agreed a deal which sees Leo Fasan sign on loan for League One side Port Vale, the English club announced.

Fasan, 22, stands to benefit from playing competitive first team football after failing to make a first team appearance all season.

The deal was possible after Port Vale sold Jak Alnwick to Scottish side Glasgow Rangers 24 hours earlier.

Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Alnwick had spent 18 months at Port Vale before his big move.

Fasan is out of contract at Celtic at the end of the season and the transfer allows him a chance to impress and potentially earn a permanent deal.

His path to the first team at Celtic is blocked by Scottish international Craig Gordon, who remained at the club despite late interest from English Premier League leaders Chelsea.
