Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has been linked with Arsenal.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is seen during a training session at Lennoxtown on December 29, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Latest speculation linking Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers with Arsenal should not come as a surprise given what he achieved at Liverpool and Swansea City in the Premier League in England.

Rodgers did a great job at Swansea before almost guiding Liverpool to the Premier League title during the 2013-14 season.

The former Reading boss has been a massive success at Scottish Premiership club Celtic, who could easily win the treble this season, just as they did during the 2016-17 campaign.

According to The Mirror, Rodgers is among the candidates to replace Arsene Wenger as the Arsenal manager at the end of the season.

Celtic's head coach Brendan Rodgers talks during a press conference in Brussels on September 26, 2017 on the eve of the Champions League group B) football match against RSC Anderlecht.

This is not the first time that the former Liverpool boss has been linked with Arsenal.

Back in April 2017, former Celtic forward Charlie Nicholas suggested Rodgers as a contender to replace Wenger at the Emirates Stadium, as quoted by Sky Sports.

What Rodgers subsequently told talkSPORT in April 2017 in response to those Arsenal links makes for an interesting reading now, especially for the Celtic fans, who will know that Rodgers cannot do any more than what he has already done at Celtic Park.

Rodgers told talkSPORT in April 2017 when asked about Arsenal and whether he wants to return to the Premier League: “One day that will be the case but I’m obviously still young as a manager.

“Maybe a few years ago I was super-ambitious… I still am ambitious but being at Celtic makes you reassess. You have to look at what you have got as well.

“As a Celtic supporter, I know what they want and I want to try and give them as much as I possibly can and when I do leave here, leave a legacy that allows for the next guy to come in and hopefully take it on again.

“One day I will look to go back [to the Premier League]. I wouldn’t rule out going abroad as well. But at this moment in time my only focus is for Celtic.”
