Celtic are celebrating a ninth league title in a row, after the Scottish league season was ended ahead of schedule this week.

The global pandemic means the season has been ended, with Celtic awarded the title whilst Hearts have been relegated to the second tier.

It isn’t all good news for Celtic though. On Saturday, news broke that coach Damien Duff is leaving the club, with Neil Lennon confirming that to the Daily Record.

Duff was brought to Celtic by Brendan Rodgers, and has been working as first-team coach at Parkhead. Yet having been appointed to the Republic of Ireland staff, Celtic seemingly won’t extend his deal, which ends next month.

Lennon suggested that Celtic could promote from within, but there is a chacne that Celtic look to bring in somebody from outside of the club.

Celtic fans have been taking to Twitter to suggest potential replacements, and two names kept coming up – Henrik Larsson and Johan Mjallby.

Mjallby certainly fits the bill, having worked on Lennon’s staff at Celtic and Bolton in the past. Meanwhile, Bhoys legend Larsson is out of management having left Helsingborgs in 2019.

Celtic fans believe that either Mjallby or Larsson would be perfect as Duff’s replacement, even hoping that both return to the club to offer a blend of defensive and attacking coaching.
