Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata is turning around the opinions of fans with a series of committed performances.

Boyata was Celtic’s man-of-the-match in their 1-0 win over Aberdeen at the weekend, following up a towering display in the Old Firm derby win at the start of the month.

Boyata had appeared to be pushing for an exit in the transfer window, much to the frustration of fans, with some even unveiling an insulting banner directed towards him when he made his return.

Now some Celtic fans are calling for Boyata to be handed a bumper new contract.

Dedryck Boyata of Celtic arrives for the second leg of the UEFA Europa League Play Off between Celtic and Suduva at Celtic Park Stadium on August 30, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Boyata’s current contract expires next summer and the Belgian could end up leaving on a free transfer.

Celtic supporters are keen that the reigning champions put forward a substantial offer to try and get him to sign a new deal.
