Charlie Mulgrew continued his sensational form for English club Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon with a brace from centre-back – and Celtic fans have urged Brendan Rodgers to lure the defender back to Glasgow.

The 31-year-old gave Blackburn the lead in a 3-1 win over Shrewsbury Town with an inch-perfect, long-range free-kick that evaded the grasp of goalkeeper Dean Henderson. He then wrapped up the win with a penalty in the second half.

Despite playing from centre-back at Blackburn, the Rovers skipper has now found the back of the net 11 times this season in just 24 League One outings for Tony Mowbray’s side.

Mulgrew was allowed to leave Celtic in the summer of 2016, as Rodgers decided to clear out the Hoops dead wood and that included the 31-time Scotland international.

However, as he continues his unbelievable goalscoring form, Celtic fans have considered the possibility of re-signing Mulgrew on Twitter and most are in agreement that the club should explore such a transfer.

One fan even claimed he would have Mulgrew over Dedryck Boyata “all day”.
