Craig Gordon came in for plenty of criticism during Celtic’s 4-0 loss to Hearts on Saturday.

Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has come in for huge criticism following his performance during the Hoops’ shock 4-0 loss to Hearts on Sunday afternoon, so is it not about time Dorus de Vries was given a chance?
Scotland international Gordon allowed a long-range effort from Kyle Lafferty to slide past him into the bottom corner before giving away a penalty which saw Manuel Milinkovic score his second of the afternoon.
Jozo Simunovic was also at fault for the third goal as his missed clearance allowed Milinkovic to round Gordon with ease before sliding the ball into an empty net despite pressure from Dedryck Boyata.

Now, the Hoops are back in action on Wednesday night as they look to put the defeat behind them and begin another unbeaten run, after going 69 matches in Scotland without losing.
They face Partick Thistle at Celtic Park, and changes are expected to be made to a side that were comprehensively beaten by Craig Levein’s young side that even included 16-year-old goalscorer Harry Cochrane.
Gordon’s dismal form should surely see 6ft 3in de Vries handed a chance between the sticks on Wednesday night, and for the three games after the midweek clash until the Christmas break.

De Vries has made just six Celtic appearances since joining the club during Rodgers’ first transfer window in charge, after being dropped due to a huge 7-0 loss to Barcelona last season.
Now 36, de Vries could be in line to return to the side, with a goalkeeper now surely going to be a priority in the January transfer window for Rodgers and the Celtic board. Starting de Vries, over a confidence-shot Gordon, would give Celtic the best chance of three points.
