Armstrong Oko-Flex broke the deadlock as Celtic’s reserves produced another impressive win.
Several Celtic fans have urged Neil Lennon to hand Armstrong Oko-Flex his first-team debut before the campaign concludes after he scored yet another goal for the reserves as they beat Motherwell 3-1 on Monday.
Oko-Flex has enjoyed a very good first year at Parkhead having arrived from Arsenal last summer. And he got the Hoops off to a flyer inside four minutes against Well as he coolly found the back of the net from eight yards out.
Celtic’s youngsters would go on to win 3-1. And while several of the players would have been hoping that they may have caught Lennon’s eye, particularly the likes of Mikey Johnston and Ewan Henderson who have been involved with the first-team this term, it appears that Oko-Flex now has the supporters’ backing.
The 17-year-old has been a regular goalscorer for the Hoops’ reserves this term. And with the Bhoys not scoring in either of their last two league matches, some fans feel that Lennon may as well hand the teenager a chance before the season finishes.
Although their latest Scottish Premiership title is not yet confirmed, it appears to be a formality at this stage with Celtic boasting a nine point lead with four games remaining.
And with that in mind, some want to see Oko-Flex get his senior debut, and it is not difficult to see why. Even if it turns out that he is not quite ready, his involvement is not going to cost the Hoops the title, especially as the side have not managed to score in the last two league games. So it may be worth the gamble at some stage in the remaining weeks.
