The Hoops won their last-eight tie at Parkhead last night and are a step closer to lifting their fourth League Cup in a row.

Scott Sinclair of Celtic vies with David Gray of Hibernian uring the Ladbrokes Premiership match between Celtic and Hibernian at Celtic Park on February 6, 2019 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the draw for the semi-final of the Scottish League Cup, which will see the Parkhead side lock horns with Hibernian on the weekend of 2-3 November for a place in the final.

Neil Lennon’s charges booked their place in the last four with an impressive 5-0 victory over Partick Thistle at home on Wednesday night, while Hibs beat Kilmarnock in a penalty shootout following a goalless draw at Rugby Park.

Vakoun Issouf Bayo opened the scoring with his first Celtic goal to open the scoring before Tom Rogic’s effort, Olivier Ntcham’s seven-minute brace, and Scott Sinclair’s strike went on to make it an emphatic win for the Bhoys.

As a result, the Hoops will take on the Edinburgh side, who are currently 11th in the Premiership table with just one win from six, but who have decent cup pedigree, having won the Scottish Cup in 2016 and finished three times as runners-up in either the Cup or League Cup this decade.

Here is what some Celtic fans made of the update on social media, as announced by the Hoops channel:

Celtic have won the League Cup trophy for the last three seasons, kicking off each of their trebles before then going on win the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup the following calendar year.

The winner of the tie between the Bhoys and the Hibbees will take on either Rangers (who reached the last four by beating Livingston 1-0) and Hearts (who edged out Aberdeen on penalties) in the final on the weekend of 7-8 December.
