The Hoops captain is taking his SFA badges and is hoping to become a manager after hanging up his boots.
Celtic captain Scott Brown has disclosed his ambition to go into management once he hangs up his boots, as reported by Sky Sports News.
The 33-year-old has etched his name into Parkhead folklore by being an indispensable member of one of the most successful Hoops sides – and indeed Scottish teams – of all time.
Just one look at Brown’s silverware haul while at Celtic says it all – nine Scottish Premiership titles, five Scottish Cups and five Scottish League Cups (Transfermarkt), not to mention having captained his side to an unprecedented treble Treble.
However, the midfielder is edging into the twilight of his career, and with that in mind, he told Sky Sports News about how he is commited to pursuing a career in the dugout at some point in the future.
Brown said is currently doing his coaching badges with the Scottish Football Association, as well as helping out with Celtic’s Under-20s side, and when asked about whether a coaching role or a managerial role would suit him best, he said would prefer to be the one in charge.
“The Under-20s helped, but it was a great experience for me, as well as going in with Stevie (McManus) and Tommy (McIntyre) and understanding the game on their behalf as well,” he said. “It’s been good, it’s been a learning experience and so has (doing my coaching badges).
“I think (I would rather be) manager. I like that little bit of authority. I like to dictate what happens and I try to do that in a game. I would like to hopefully one day have the opportunity to do that as a manager.”
