The Celtic boss says Johnston is a little fatigued ahead of the Hoops’ cup meeting with Dunfermline at Parkhead and some Bhoys were left confused.

A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Neil Lennon’s fitness update on Mikey Johnston ahead of the Betfred Cup clash against Dunfermline Athletic at Parkhead.
The Hoops boss spoke to reporters at his pre-match press conference on Friday and gave updates on several players, such as Scott Bain being ruled out for Saturday’s game with a dislocated thumb.
Lennon also said Celtic have two fresh concerns, with Jozo Simunovic and Johnston both doubtful for the fixture, the former deemed “50/50” for the game and the latter described as “a little bit fatigued”.
Johnston has played just 74 minutes in Celtic’s last three matches after sitting out the away games against CFR Cluj and Motherwell, starting in the Champions League second leg against the Romanian champions before Lewis Morgan took his place midway through the second half.
There was some confusion and even some bewilderment amongst the Bhoys fanbase regarding this update and some took to social media to give their thoughts:
Championship Dunfermline finished top of their cup group, beating Premiership side St Mirren, Albion Rovers, and East Kilbride but falling to a shock defeat at Edinburgh City.
