The Hoops defender put in a superb display for Neil Lennon’s side against Motherwell last weekend.

A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the SPFL’s Team of the Week for the weekend of 9-10 August and quite a few were not impressed with Kristoffer Ajer’s absence from the XI.
The Hoops defender put in a superb performance in Saturday’s 5-2 win at Motherwell, scoring the equaliser shortly after Liam Donnelly had opened the scoring on 12 minutes and, despite playing out of position due to an injury crisis at the back, filled in amazingly in the right-back position.
With the SPFL Team of the Week only allowing one player from each team, however, Ajer was not included in the squad as Olivier Ntcham’s dominant display in midfield, in which he was involved in the build-up to a couple of Celtic’s second-half goals, saw the Frenchman get the nod instead.
Here is what some Bhoys faithful said on social media regarding the selection:
Ajer joined Celtic in July 2016 during Ronny Deila’s tenure and initially made a slow start to life at Parkhead but has since developed into an outstanding player, making 45 appearances in all competitions last term (Transfermarkt).
The 21-year-old Norwegian has been linked with other clubs, such as AC Milan (TMW) and Leicester City (Scottish Sun), but judging by his display at Fir Park and over the course of last season, not to mention how he’s still got so much time to prosper even more as a player, the Hoops have an asset on their hands that they must keep hold of.
