The Hoops ace will not feature for Alex McLeish’s side against Kazakhstan.
Scotland manager Alex McLeish has confirmed in his press conference on Wednesday that Celtic defender Kieran Tierney will miss Thursday’s European Qualifier away to Kazakhstan due to injury.
The 21-year-old Hoops ace was set to deputise for Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson, but will now miss Thursday’s match in Nursultan (formerly known as Astana as reported by BBC) due to an apparent hip problem.
As reported by Sky Sports News, Tierney played through a knock in Celtic’s Scottish Premiership win over Dundee on Sunday and sat out training in an indoor arena on Tuesday, undergoing some work on his own back at the team hotel, but has failed to recover in time.
McLeish said in his press conference that Tierney underwent a medical and a scan, and the medical team decided that he could not be risked, adding that they also don’t know whether he will be available for Sunday’s qualifier against San Marino.

Tierney has been capped 12 times for Scotland since his debut in March 2016 against Denmark, according to Transfermarkt.
