Celtic Under-20s have triumphed over their Rangers counterparts thanks to a 3-2 victory in Tuesday night’s dramatic Glasgow Cup final and Old Firm derby at Parkhead.

The hosts were bright from the off and surged into a two-goal lead before the break as centre-forward Jack Aitchison fired home inside the near post, leaving Gers goalkeeper Kieran Wright with no chance.

With seven minutes remaining in the half, Mikey Johnston then delivered a free kick which Wright connected with, but such was the placing and speed of the effort that once again the keeper couldn’t keep it out.

Rangers did not capitulate in the second half, in fact they stepped up their game and went on to level against the hosts as Glenn Middleton struck a brace, including a 30-yard strike in off the crossbar.

However, Celtic struck back in the 95th minute of injury time as Ewan Henderson’s free kick was not properly cleared and Robbie Deas beat Wright with an effort into the opposite corner of the net.

During and after the game, some of the Bhoys faithful took to Twitter to praise opening scorer Aitchison for his efforts against their Old Firm rivals – not to mention his apparent ‘ear-cup’ celebration:

Aitchison, 19, is currently on loan at Alloa Athletic and his Celtic contract runs for another two years (Transfermarkt).
