Celtic’s move for Shane Duffy hasn’t quite paid off, as the Irishman has struggled to find top form since arriving on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion in September.
The Bhoys made what looked like being a smart move by taking Duffy on loan for the season, believing that he could solidify Celtic’s back line.
The Irishman has struggled though, looking off the pace and even out of his depth at times, with Neil Lennon now seeking another experienced defender according to The Scottish Sun.
There has already been one name linked with filling that role, as the Daily Record claim that Motherwell’s Declan Gallagher is wanted by the Bhoys.
Gallagher allegedly wants a ‘dream move’ to Celtic, though Aberdeen, Blackburn Rovers and Hibernian are also interested in signing him.
The 29-year-old is a Scotland international with experience in Scottish football, meaning he could tick the boxes Celtic are seeking.
Still, the suggestion of moving for Gallagher is sparking discussion, with some feeling that he is better than Duffy and would be a decent signing at a fraction of the cost.
Others think that a move for Gallagher would be short-sighted and if he is the answer to Celtic’s defensive issues, then the situation at Parkhead is worse than first thought.
