Scotland suffered complete humiliation in Nursultan today, as they were thrashed 3-0 by Kazakhstan in their first Euro 2020 qualifying clash.

Alex McLeish’s side were hoping to get off to a strong start despite being without Andrew Robertson and Kieran Tierney, but it was a complete disaster.

Kazakhstan got the scoring started after just six minutes as Yuriy Pertsukh got in behind the Scotland defence to fire past Scott Bain, and it became 2-0 just four minutes later.

Graeme Shinnie was caught out, allowing Yan Vorogovskiy to nip in and score, before it got even worse in the second half, with Baktiyor Zainutdinov heading home the third.

Scotland were dismal throughout and couldn’t get back into the game, leaving fans to slam manager Alex McLeish for such a dreadful performance.

Everyone in a Scotland shirt struggled, but defender Scott McKenna endured a nightmare, with Pertsukh running off him for the opener, before he was also beaten by Zainutdinov for the third.

The Aberdeen ace will want to forget about this game quickly, and Celtic fans have seemingly made their mind up about the centre back after this showing.

Brendan Rodgers told BBC Sport in August that he wanted McKenna at Parkhead but couldn’t secure a deal, and Celtic fans now hope that there is no chance of McKenna signing following Rodgers’ exit.

Many Celtic supporters slammed McKenna, branding him a potentially ‘rotten’ signing and pointing out that he simply isn’t Celtic class, and begged the Bhoys not to sign him this summer after struggling so badly against the world’s 117th ranked nation.
