Celtic are currently weighing up whether or not to put Neil Lennon in charge at Parkhead next season.
Celtic supporters should be excited by Andre Villas-Boas’ agent’s u-turn.
Villas-Boas agent, Jean-Paul Lares, initially ruled the Portuguese boss out of the job at Parkhead, amid rumours he could take over from Neil Lennon.
“Andre has the deepest affection for both Scotland and the Scottish people and the fondest memories of the time he spent there,” he said.
“But we have received no offers from Scottish clubs and no decision has been made on his future, so there’s no way a valid comment can be made on this subject.”
For Villas-Boas to seemingly be ruled back into the running for the Celtic job should be seen as exciting news.
The 41-year-old boss would be a major coup for Celtic, if they could persuade him to take the job.
Villas-Boas is a manager with a long-term strategy, and his style of football could suit the squad which Brendan Rodgers has built with the Bhoys.
Both Villas-Boas and Rodgers put an importance on retaining possession, and his coaching ability could help Celtic’s players to develop.
If Villas-Boas is available Celtic should explore the possibility of putting him in charge, especially now his agent has seemingly given the Bhoys the green light to approach.
