Rooney’s close friend Steven Gerrard has signed a four-year deal to be the new Rangers manager, but could have trouble luring him to Ibrox.

Jim White is being ridiculed by Celtic fans after the Rangers supporting broadcaster started a discussion about whether Wayne Rooney could follow Steven Gerrard to Ibrox on his Talksport show yesterday morning (Tuesday).
Rooney and Gerrard, who signed a four-year deal to be Rangers’ new manager last week, are former England teammates and remain close friends off the pitch despite playing for rival clubs throughout their careers.
And with the former being tipped to leave Everton this summer, White has mentioned Ibrox as a potential destination – a suggestion that Michael Gray, the ex-Celtic defender, said “cannot be written off”.

Nevermind Rangers’ financial state – which could require Rooney to take a significant cut on his rumoured £150,000-a-week wages – the 32-year-old’s Celtic allegiance could also put paid to White’s dream, something several Bhoys fans have been pointing out on Twitter.
Here’s what they’re saying…
Rooney, who returned to Everton, his boyhood club, last summer from Manchester United, is said to be interesting DC United in America’s MLS.
