John Terry is available and Celtic need centre-backs – could Brendan Rodgers move?

Aston Villa's new signing John Terry meets supporters before the press conference at Villa Park on July 3, 2017 in Birmingham, England.

Tam McManus has claimed on Twitter that he and former Celtic man Kris Commons both think that the Hoops should sign John Terry before the end of the summer transfer window.

Celtic are slowly but surely developing something of a crisis in regards to centre-back options.

Dedryck Boyata’s future is very much up in the air after refusing to travel to Lithuania for Thursday’s Europa League playoff with Suduva, Jack Hendry has endured a tough start to the season, and Jozo Simunovic injured himself in last night’s 1-1 draw.

Terry, who earned £70,000 per week at Aston Villa last season [Birmingham Mail], is a free agent after leaving the Championship club during the summer.

The 37-year-old, who turns 38 in December, has not officially hung up his boots, and McManus says he and Commons reckon that Brendan Rodgers should make a move – and some Celtic fans agree.

It seems a big ask, unless Terry accepts a major wage cut, but what a signing it would be.

The Chelsea icon might be getting on in years, but he proved last season that he can still be an asset outside of the Premier League and he’d be a massive asset for Rodgers’s side.
