Celtic fans are adamant the club never wanted Rangers target.
Rangers are moving closer to sealing a deal for promising attacker Joe Aribo.
Aribo underwent a medical yesterday and Rangers manager Steven Gerrard said they have beaten competition from Celtic for his signature.
Charlton had attempted to persuade Aribo to stay at the Championship club, but to no avail.
Aribo is a promising signing for Rangers, but Celtic fans dispute their interest.
The Scottish Sun reported Celtic were keen on Aribo last month.
But it’s unclear if any bids were actually made by Celtic, who have just splashed out on David Turnbull instead.
And that’s why Celtic fans were unhappy with Gerrard’s comments that Rangers have beaten them to his signature.
Rangers are certainly presenting Aribo’s capture as good news, and so it should be. He is an exciting youngster who scored into double figures last season.
Celtic supporters did not think much of Gerrard’s comments though…
