Rodgers’s side are really missing the injured Dedryck Boyata, resulting in the Northern Irishman needing to play Simunovic alongside his fellow Croat in central defence.
Sviatchenko was offloaded last January after deals for Marvin Compper and Jack Hendry.
The 27-year-old posted a festive message for his followers on Twitter this evening, and fans of the Parkhead club were quick to tell him that he would be welcome back in Glasgow.
