Rangers clinched the signing of Fabio Cardoso yesterday, with the defender becoming the fourth signing made by Pedro Caixinha this summer.

The 23-year-old has bags of potential, having represented Portugal at under-20 level, Caixinha hopes partnering him with veteran Bruno Alves will help him reach the top.

Cardoso was thrilled to clinch his move, and took to social media to express his delight at signing for the Gers, labelling them as Caixinha did as the most successful club in the world, based on their staggering number of major trophies won in their history.

Predictably Cardoso found himself inundated with responses from Celtic fans, who were not shy about letting him know their opinions.

Here is a look at the responses…

If Cardoso wasn’t familiar with how bitter the rivalry between the two clubs is, then he will quickly be up to speed.

On the pitch however there is a substantial distance between the teams with Celtic far superior at present, having recorded their sixth league title win in a row.

Last season they won five games against Rangers and drew the other, and finished 39 points ahead of their rivals.

That’s why Rangers are acting decisively to bring in new players as quickly as possible, with a major squad overhaul required to challenge for the top
