A fan site asked the former Hoops defender if he fancied meeting up for a pint and his reply was loved by some of the Parkhead supporters.

Erik Sviatchenko of Celtic applauds the fans after the UEFA Champions League group C match between Celtic FC and Manchester City FC at Celtic Park on September 28, 2016 in Glasgow,...

Erik Sviatchenko has been away from Celtic for pretty much the whole of 2018 but he still retains plenty of affinity towards the Scottish Premiership champions.

Brendan Rodgers deemed the Denmark international surplus to requirements back in January and allowed him to rejoin his former club FC Midtjylland on loan

After winning the Danish Superligaen title with the Jutland outfit, Sviatchenko’s loan was made permanent for a fee deemed by the Daily Record to have been £1 million.

This term, however, Celtic aren’t exactly setting the league alight – it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see the Hoops multiple points clear at the top by now, but they’re currently third.

In their last game, Rodgers’ charges succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at Hibernian, with Jozo Simunovic failing to have much of a positive impact alongside Filip Benkovic.

As a result, it seems that some Celtic fans are missing their former player, hence the excitement when he posted an Instagram story featuring a photo of him in the club’s dressing room:

Even better was his Twitter reply to fan site CeltsAreHere asking him if he fancied meeting up for a drink in Glasgow:

Cue some Hoops faithful taking to Twitter either praising Sviatchenko and even asking him to come back as a player:
