Celtic have announced that Ryan Christie suffered multiple facial fractures during Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final win over Aberdeen and will undergo surgery on Thursday.
The 24-year-old was badly injured after a clash of heads with Dominic Ball in the first half of the match, the Dons man being shown a second yellow card following the foul.
Christie was treated for several minutes by Celtic’s medical staff and left the field on a stretcher with his neck in a brace, updating fans about his condition on his social media on Monday.
The Bhoys put out a statement on Tuesday afternoon confirming that their player would be getting operated on later in the week, adding that they could not give any specific indication on a timescale for his return to action just yet.
