Arsenal have paid tribute to Kieran Tierney’s Celtic roots on Twitter.

Tierney scored Arsenal’s second goal in a 5-0 drubbing away to Norwich City on Boxing Day.

The former Celtic left-back, a £25 million signing by the Gunners in 2019, bombed forward as he did so often in Glasgow and calmly slotted beyond the goalkeeper.

Players and supporters of the Scottish Premiership giants are known as Bhoys.

And that’s precisely what Arsenal referred to their Glasgow-born defender as on Twitter last night.

Here’s how some Celtic supporters reacted on social media.

Tierney has a huge amount of affinity for Arsenal.

But even fans of the North London club won’t deny that Celtic always has been and always will be Tierney’s first love.

He broke into the Hoops’ senior squad at the age of 17 and went on to play a huge role in them winning a treble treble under Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon.

That Celtic team will never be forgotten and Tierney must feel an enormous sense of pride in knowing that he was part of it.

He’s only been a Premier League player for two-and-a-bit years but the 24-year-old has already clasped his hands on English silverware, too.

Tierney played a role in helping Arsenal to an FA Cup title under Mikel Arteta back in August of 2020.

At 24, the Scotland international, who already has nine major trophies to his name, is going to get so much better and Celtic fans must feel a certain honour in knowing he started at Lennoxtown.
