The Celtic midfield prospect left Rangers at the end of last season.
Celtic announced the signing of 20-year-old midfielder Liam Burt on Tuesday night.
The player joins on a two-year deal and will initially integrate into the club’s reserve side in an effort to push towards first-team action.
The deal is somewhat unusual because his last club just so happened to be the Hoops’ big city rivals Rangers.
It’s not often that two players play for each side of the divide, never mind almost move directly between each.
Burt’s Ibrox contract expired at the end of last term but he’s spent the summer on trial at the Scottish champions and has clearly impressed coaches enough to earn a deal.
He didn’t waste time in making an impact either, scoring the winning penalty for the club’s colt team in the Scottish Challenge Cup against Queen’s Park.
His goal will now be impressing for the second-string and trying to show his new manager Neil Lennon that he has the kind of quality that could be of benefit to the Hoops.
The Scotland U21 international managed to make just three senior appearances for the Gers over the years, also spending time out on loan at Dumbarton and Alloa.
