One-time Celtic flop Saidy Janko could be joining the 2004 Champions League winners according to a report.

It looks like one former Celtic player could be about to secure a big-money move away.

Saidy Janko is, according to L’Equipe, being lined up to replace Richard Pereira at Porto following the right-back’s £22 million move to Leicester City.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers offloaded the 22-year-old to Saint Etienne last summer after struggling for first-team football with the Hoops under the Northern Irishman, who inherited him from Ronny Deila.

Deila snapped up the Swiss defender upon his release by Manchester United, and here is how Celtic fans reacted to the prospect of him joining Porto.

Janko isn’t fondly remembered by the Parkhead faithful after only managing 12 Premiership appearances during a two-year period, though injury contributed to that dismal number.

He is perhaps most remembered for a shocking individual performance against Hapoel Be’er Sheva in a Champions League qualifier almost two years ago.

The former Barnsley loanee only managed 16 Ligue 1 appearances last season, but it looks like he gave a very good account of himself nonetheless and it’ll be interesting to see his progression if he moves to Portugal.
