Rangers midfielder Josh Windass has admitted that competing with Celtic financially is proving tough for the Ibrox club, as quoted by The Daily Record.

Celtic have the best squad in Scotland and are set to win the Scottish Premiership title yet again this season.

In fact, there is a very strong likelihood that Brendan Rodgers’s side will win the treble for the second season in a row.

The Gers are unlikely to catch Old Firm rivals Celtic this season and will have to settle for the runners-up spot.

Rangers midfielder Windass has admitted that competing with the Hoops financially is proving to be tough, and Celtic fans have responded to his comments on social networking site Twitter.

The Daily Record quotes Windass as saying: “It’s difficult, with the spending they’ve got with the Champions League obviously they get big money for getting into that and obviously we’ve not got as much money as them.

“But this year it’s got a lot closer compared to last year so I’m hoping in the next year or so we’ll be able to get a lot closer.”

Josh Windass of Rangers scores his sides first goal during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on March 11, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers finishing second in the Scottish Premiership title this season will be progress for the Gers.

Moreover, Graeme Murty’s side have reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup, and that should also be considered as a positive.

Perhaps Rangers could become genuine challengers to Celtic for the league title in the next one or two seasons.
