Celtic fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to recent comments made by Glasgow Rangers forward Kyle Lafferty.
Lafferty, who returned to Rangers in the summer transfer window, believes that Steven Gerrard’s side can compete with Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title this season.
The 30-year-old Northern Ireland international forward – who cost Rangers £500,000 in transfer fees to sign from Scottish Premiership rivals Heart of Midlothian, as reported by The Glasgow Evening Times – is confident about the Gers launching a challenge for the league title.
The Daily Record quotes Lafferty as saying: “Obviously there is going to be no excuses for the performance we’ve put in and Celtic were probably the better team on the day but we are on a good road now and a good path and we’re going to kick on and we’ll be much closer to Celtic.
“Everyone in the Rangers dressing room believes that we’ll get 55 and that this will be the year we’ll win the league.”
Rangers suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Celtic in the Old Firm derby at Celtic Park last weekend.
The performance of the Gers was disappointing, and it is clear that the Gers have to improve if they are to challenge Brendan Rodgers’s side for the Scottish Premiership title this season.
