David Bates is leaving Rangers… and Celtic fans are having their say.

Celtic fans have been having their say after rivals Rangers suffered a transfer blow ahead of this weekend’s Old Firm derby.
German side Hamburg announced the signing of Gers defender David Bates on a Bosman, with the centre-back penning a four year contract.
The surprise move has left Rangers without one of the players they were hoping to build around for the future, and he is the second defender to leave within months, following Danny Wilson, who joined MLS side Colorado Rapids.
Bates’ last appearance for Rangers was against Celtic in early March, when he suffered an early injury in the Gers’ 3-2 defeat.

He has been out since and is a doubt to feature in this weekend’s semi-final.
Celtic fans are fascinated by Rangers’ inability to keep the defender, and see it as a further sign of weakness in their rivals, who they have enjoyed a stretch of superiority over.
Fans suspect Rangers are likely to get worse and not better, and see Bates’ departure as evidence of this…
