Celtic fans have taken to Twitter in the wake of their Scottish Cup semi-final victory over Rangers, and while most of the squad were rightfully lauded by the supporters, there was undoubtedly a significant amount of praise for Olivier Ntcham.

The Hoops kept their double Treble hopes alive in emphatic fashion as they set up a final with Motherwell and barely needed to get out of second gear when they faced the Gers. Graeme Murty’s men flew out of the blocks during the previous meeting, but Sunday’s battle between the two was about as one-sided as it has been since the pair were reunited in the top flight.

Tom Rogic opened the scoring with a tidy finish before Callum McGregor doubled the lead before the break as he took full advantage of a mistake from Russell Martin.

If not already, the game was over shortly after the restart as Moussa Dembele audaciously dinked a penalty after a clash with Ross McCrorie that led to the Rangers youngster being dismissed. Ntcham completed the rout from the spot in the latter stages.

It was a superb performance from the Frenchman. He, along with Scott Brown, dictated the play in the middle of the park and rarely looked troubled as Rangers were quick to realise that they would be spending most of the afternoon chasing the game.

The £4.5 million signing – fee reported by the Daily Mail – has not always been at his best this season, but this display was undoubtedly a reminder as to why the Scottish Premiership champions made him one of their most expensive signings ever last summer.
