A number of Celtic fans were impressed by Olivier Ntcham, but the reaction was not unanimous.

A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Olivier Ntcham’s display during the Hoops’ Scottish League Cup quarter-final clash with St Johnstone which saw Brendan Rodgers’ men book their place in the last four of the competition.

The Bhoys went into the game looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Kilmarnock at the weekend, and Rodgers would have been hoping that several players stepped up after fairly lacklustre starts to the campaign.

The night ended with a positive result for the champions – and current holders in this competition – as Leigh Griffiths scored late on to give them a 1-0 win over the Saints.

The game did end on a poor note for Celtic with Dedryck Boyata being sent off after having words with the referee. But Rodgers’ men managed to see the game out and set up a semi-final with Hearts.

Ntcham’s performance in the win attracted plenty of attention. The Frenchman has often not been at his best this term, and some fans are clearly worried that the midfielder is less than happy following Moussa Dembele’s summer departure.

But there were plenty of supporters who felt that they had seen a player who resembled the Ntcham that dominates games when he is at his best, and Rodgers will be hoping that his encouraging display on Wednesday is a sign of things to come.
