Celtic overcame Hibernian with relative ease this weekend.

Moussa Dembele celebrates his 2nd goal (Celtic's 4th) with Nir Bitton during the Betfred Cup Semi-Final at Hampden Park on October 21, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic maintained their progress in the Scottish League Cup with a 4-2 win against Hibernian on Saturday afternoon, but not all their players came away unscathed when it came to fan frustration.

Midfielder Nir Bitton cannot help that Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers has limited options at centre-back and subsequently plays the Israel international at the back when he wants to rest one of his key players, but that does not stop some supporters from voicing their concerns at the player’s ongoing selection.

Bitton partnered Dedryck Boyata in the heart of Celtic’s defence and he could not prevent Hibs from scoring twice, although braces from Mikael Lustig and Moussa Dembele ensured that was not a problem.

Celtic continue to challenge in four competitions this season, even if their Champions League hopes look slim after their recent defeat to Bayern Munich, but squad rotation is the key to keeping everyone fresh.

As a result, Celtic fans can expect Bitton to feature on plenty more occasions at least until January, when a new out-and-out centre-back could be on Rodgers’ wish list.
