Celtic are set to miss out on the Scottish Premiership title, and that may lead to some changes in the near future.

Jeremie Frimpong has moved on and the likes of Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer and Ryan Christie are likely to attract interest.

Hatem Abd Elhamed is leaving for Hapoel Be’er Sheva, and Israeli teammate Bitton could end up following him back home.

The Scottish Sun report that Maccabi Tel-Aviv want to sign Nir Bitton, and are willing to offer him a return to Israel.

Bitton left hometown club FC Ashdod to sign for Neil Lennon’s Celtic in 2013, and has racked up 230 appearances for the Bhoys in a strong spell at Parkhead.

The 29-year-old has won seven league titles and nine domestic cups with Celtic, but his trophy-laden stint in Glasgow could be coming to an end.

Bitton does have two years left on his Celtic contract, so Maccabi will have to pay up, but they’re ambitious and seeking a major addition in Bitton.

Celtic fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the rumours, with many feeling that the time is right for Bitton to go as he has been at Celtic for too long now.

Some appreciate his service to the club and value him as a squad player, but think letting him go is necessary as part of a squad churn at Celtic this year.
