Celtic have moved to appoint Nick Hammond as Lee Congerton’s replacement.

Celtic have officially hired Nick Hammond.

It was reported earlier this week that the Hoops were on the brink of hiring the 52-year-old as Lee Congerton’s replacement.

Congerton left his role as Celtic’s Head of Recruitment this past summer to join up with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City, prompting the Bhoys to hire Hammond on a provisional basis.

The former West Brom guru has been helping manager Neil Lennon on the transfer front and the Northern Irishman revealed last month that Hammond had been ‘absolutely huge’ in terms of the role he played in the recruitment process during the summer.

This afternoon, the Parkhead club confirmed that he had officially joined the club as Head of Football Operations, and here’s how fans of the Scottish giants reacted on Twitter.

This announcement comes a few days after Rangers hired Ross Wilson as their Director of Football.

The Ibrox side, who sit two points clear of Celtic in the Premiership, clearly have one eye on January already and it was important that the Bhoys follow suit by implementing some stability over recruitment.
