Moussa Dembele endured a difficult afternoon as Celtic moved another step closer to securing the Scottish Premiership title.

Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to criticise Moussa Dembele’s performance during the Hoops’ win over Hamilton which takes Brendan Rodgers’ men to within touching distance of another Scottish Premiership title.

With the league crown already virtually in the bag, the Bhoys would have been forgiven for having one eye on next weekend when they meet Rangers in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup. However, it appeared that the Hoops may be about to get off a flyer when Dembele capitalised on some sloppy play from the home side straight from the kick-off.

Unfortunately, the Frenchman was unable to take full advantage and put his effort straight at the goalkeeper. And that moment proved to sum up his entire afternoon.

Celtic did bag the three points as they ran out 2-1 winners. But it was a frustrating game for Dembele, who also had to watch as Leigh Griffiths staked his claim for a starting spot in the semi-final as he came off the bench to score the winning goal less than a minute into the second-half.

And it appears that several Hoops fans would rather see Griffiths start up front next weekend. Despite the general consensus on social media being that Dembele is the better striker, many were hugely disappointed with his display and feel that it may be a greater gamble to pick the former Fulham youngster at Hampden Park.

Some have even suggested that this summer may be the right time to sell the 21-year-old as he does not appear to be fully focused on his situation at Celtic.
