Celtic fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to recent comments from Mikael Lustig about his long-term future.

Lustig recently told Celtic’s official website that he wants to remain at Celtic Park to enjoy 10-in-a-row.

The 31-year-old Sweden international defender has been on the books of Celtic since January 2012 and has a contract with the Glasgow giants until the summer of 2019, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Lustig told Celtic’s official website: “I’ve always felt welcome here and I always want to play for Celtic, but the older you get you need to take one year at a time.

“I have two more seasons before my contract expires so we’ll see what happens but, of course, I want to stay at Celtic for as long as possible.

“We never think too far ahead, we take things game by game and season by season, but I’d love to be here if Celtic get 10-in-a-row.”

Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to comments from Lustig about staying at Celtic Park.

Lustig is a good defender and has done well for Celtic over the years, but it is hard to see him remain the first-choice right-back at the Hoops under manager Brendan Rodgers in the coming years.

Anthony Ralston is a very talented and promising right-back, and it is only a matter of time before the 19-year-old, currently on loan at Dundee United, seriously starts challenging Lustig, who has made some notable mistakes from time to time.

Moreover, Celtic could well decide to sign a younger right-back in his early or mid-20s in the summer of 2019.
