Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City winger Brandon Barker this summer.

A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react to the reports from the Daily Mail this week which suggested that the Hoops are plotting a cut-price move for Manchester City’s Brandon Barker.

Neil Lennon is making plans for his first summer back at Parkhead after landing the job on a permanent basis following their latest Treble triumph. And it appears that he wants to sign a familiar face.

The Mail reports that former Hibernian loanee Barker has one more year on his deal at the Etihad Stadium and is on Celtic’s shopping list despite an underwhelming year with Preston North End in the Championship.

The report adds that the interest in Barker – who is on £16,000-a-week with the Cityzens – has come about due to concerns regarding Scott Sinclair’s future, with the Englishman also heading into the final 12 months of his contract.

The news that Celtic want Barker has not gone down well with some of the Hoops fans on social media however. While there is some support for Barker – after he caused problems against the Bhoys while at Easter Road – the kindest comments appear to be that he could be a surprise.

The majority of the supporters however, feel that he would be an incredibly underwhelming addition and are hoping that he does not end up making the move to Celtic Park during the coming months.
